As the Controller for OCM Auto Financing Group, you will play a critical role in managing the financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. You will oversee all aspects of accounting, financial analysis, and reporting for our auto financing portfolio, providing strategic insights and guidance to support our business objectives. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and operational efficiencies. The incumbent will also directly report to the CFO.

This opportunity is full-time, in-office (8:30am – 4:30pm) Monday through Friday. Our primary office is located in downtown Ottawa. Parking is available and paid by the employee.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with industry regulations and accounting standards.
  • Develop and oversee monthly and yearly operational budgets, financial forecasts, and analyze discrepancies.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and performance metrics for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain rigorous quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
  • Establish and enforce business processes and accounting protocols aligned with company guidelines to reinforce internal controls.
  • Carry out quarterly compliance audits and yearly financial audits adhering to IFRS standards.
  • Monitor the company's financial performance closely.
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, reconciliation, and revenue recognition.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable departments.
  • Perform end-to-end accounting tasks.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review and monitor monthly bank covenants.
  • Present financial metrics to senior management effectively.
  • Collaborate with risk management and credit teams to assess credit risk and optimize lending strategies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in auto financing and accounting.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA designation preferred.
  • Four years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management roles, preferably in the auto financing industry.
  • Strong understanding of auto financing products, loan servicing, and credit risk management.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience with accounting software and systems (e.g. Sage 50), preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accounting standards applicable to auto financing companies.
